TΣ EXTRA: Generative AI user stories
August 7, 2023 @ 15:00 – 17:00 CEST
On August 7, we gather to share various experience of people using generative AI tools for their work, e.g. text-to-text (ChatGPT), text-to-image (DALL-E, Midjourney) etc. Note that the time is earlier than usual: 9am EDT | 15h CEST | 16h EEST.
We will have a panel discussion with four specialists who all have invested interest in the wave of generative AI technologies, and share various perspectives on the possibilities, uses, and dangers these technologies pose.
Marge Nelk is a digital artist from Estonia who builds intricate designs of fantasy, magic and dream worlds. Since the public release of Midjourney and other text-to-image AI models, she has been curious about the impact and possibilities of such tools for creative professionals. She is raising awareness about the dangers and copyright issues of automated image production in Estonian artist scene.
Alex Davies is Associate Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy and Semiotics, University of Tartu, Estonia. Since the publication of ChatGPT and other language models last year, he has been looking for ways to use such tools in university teaching in a productive and meaningful manner.
Zdeněk Joukl is a linguist, lecturer and PhD student at Palacký University in Olomouc. He has used ChatGPT to prepare language classes and is using various text corpora to conduct his PhD research.
Ben Werdmuller is a community and web developer with 25 years of experience with various tech startups and online media outlets. Based in the US, he is actively blogging about technology, media and democracy, and is now concerned with how AI tools impact online media and the way we create and consume web content.
